Eating Disorder Services
What type of programming is offered?
Group therapy is the primary method of treatment used by staff to facilitate your process of recovery. The group setting allows you to get feedback not only from the therapist but from your peers as well.
What if I am a vegetarian?
Vegetarian meals are available; however, we cannot accommodate vegan diets. Shortly after your admission, one of our registered dietitians will meet with you to assess your dietary needs and establish a meal plan. If your diet is limited due to food allergies, please bring documentation fro your primary care physician.
Will I be allowed to exercise?
Exercise goals and limits are determined individually, taking into account medical stability. Please note no exercising is permitted during an inpatient hospitalization. For residents of the Eating Disorder Center and the Adult Center, exercise goals and limits are reviewed and assessed by the treatment team during your stay. Depending on your readiness and treatment progress, staff will set and revise these goals and limits.
Is there anything that I'm not allowed to bring with me?
The items that you can and can't bring vary depending on the level of care. As part of your orientation to the unit, staff will thoroughly check all of your belongings when you arrive. Any inappropriate items will be returned to your family or secured by Rogers Memorial staff until your discharge. - Inpatient Hospitalization
Please note that, for safety reasons, all belongings you bring with you will be put in locked storage until they can be inspected by staff. The staff will then go through these items with you. Some items will be returned to you right away; some will have to stay in storage until the staff have time to assess your safety; some items will have to stay in storage but you may check them out if needed. All electrical appliances brought in must be checked and tagged by a hospital electrician prior to use and will be kept in locked storage. Please note: no cell phones or laptops are allowed. Anything that you bring which cannot be on the unit will either be sent home with family members or kept in storage until discharge. - Residential Eating Disorder Center
Click here for a list of mandatory, recommended and optional items you may bring, as well as items that are not allowed during your stay. If you have any questions after reading the list, please contact our admissions department.
- Partial Hospitalization
We suggest you wear casual seasonal clothing and proper footwear (closed toe shoes and socks) suitable for both indoor and outdoor activities. Please bring a pen or pencil for journaling and assignments.
I noticed that the residential center's weekend schedule has fewer activities planned. Why is that?
The use of leisure time and relaxation are important aspects of one's mental health. For this reason, our residential treatment schedule includes periods of unstructured time. An important component of our treatment is coaching individuals who are used to pressured lives how to effectively use unstructured, leisure time.
